As a nation we are 234 years old. Not the longest time to be a nation at all others have existed many more years. But there is special about the United States of America both in it’s beginning and present day. 13 colonies banded together to throw off the government of the most powerful nation of that day England. The odds were against them but somehow they prevailed and became a new “nation concealed in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal” Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address. We as Lincoln are engaged in a great Civil War again. Not one of guns and bombs but of ideas and laws. Progressive thoughts and ideas are ruling the day in almost all governments in the United States of America. The Congress and President using these ideas have changed the country from one of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness to managed health care, freedom for illegals, and uncertainty of the future and fewer jobs.

The confusion of the day has effected all areas of the economy and made the world unsure of our position in the leadership of nations. The business world is frozen because they don’t know what the direction to go. Lending is virtually dead the banking industry funded by the government is slow to give the money to investors. The rules have changed for so many things that fuel the money flow to Americans and business. We were promised change and that is what we got. The confidence in government is historically low. We are engaged in 2 war fronts that cost the taxpayer billions. We run the war campaigns not knowing what it means to win. Taxes are going up on all people and businesses that make the country grow. Our debt as a nation has never been this high. While regular people are cutting back the federal government is spending more than ever. How long this can be sustained before a financial meltdown no one knows. And We are told that we are on the way to recovery by those pushing these progressive ideas . We can’t go back to the “failed policies of the past” we are told. They don’t see any failure in what they are doing.

September 11, 2001 changed life in America. Terrorist killed over 3000 people and woke us up as a nation to the fact that we are not invincible as a nation we can be attacked successfully by others who want our downfall as a nation. There are people that hate us. But that is an outside force. We have fellow Americans who are taking us in a direction which will destroy the American way of life as we know it. It is liberalism or progressive ideas. It is not of any one party but a way of life that was spawned in the dark ages. The elite in government know what is best for us we are not a nation of the people and by the people. On September 12 2001 the churches were full in remembrance of what had happen the day before. We as a nation turned back to God and asked him to bless us as a nation again and protect us from the evil of the day.

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land”, 2 Chronicles 7:14. It is time for those who are called by His name to humble themselves and pray and repent from evil and turn to the God of mercy. God’s promises are true we have hope in the future because of Him and only through Him do we receive life. The United States has been great because of God’s providence. He gives us purpose as a nation if we turn back to him. Fill the churches up again and turn your heart towards God. Seek the favor of God through humility and worship. Give Him his due.

This is truly a spiritual battle. For too long we have been self seeking, “what’s in it for me”. Life is so much more than pleasure and things and entertainment. It is family and friends and God and country. We need to get back there. We need to give thanks for the greatest Nation of modern times and ask God to bring us back. Our liberty as a nation depends on the direction we choose. Choose well America.

Seasons

It’s fall and the weather is changing the days are getting shorter and the air a little cooler. This is my favorite time of the year in California the transition of seasons bring some beautiful days and cool nights. I turn 60 this year and as scary as that seems to some in life I really don’t consider that old. I don’t need a barometer any more to know when the atmospheric pressure is dropping and the weather changing I can feel it in my joints.

So in this season of my life my I watch more sports than I play and make more trips to the restroom. I can’t loose pounds as easily as a few years ago and exercise is a dirty word. As uncomfortable and unpleasant as I make it sound I love being alive and enjoy people everyday. Love my children, grand kids and Betty (My Wife) and don’t see them enough. Still work in service and I have met every type of person you can imagine. I really don’t want this blog to be self seeking and about me but I don’t think that growing older is any different for me than others. Basically the attitude and view of life must be consistent with a fruitful and meaningful outlook on living.

Life is a gift, a chance to experience living and grow as you are meant to by God. Our original parents were made in the image of God. Wow, what does that mean? It is a chance to live in harmony with that which is good, God. Now I realize that it is all for a reason and I am still looking for the full meaning of what life is all about. I am sure it is not easy to learn, but I know it s not about having more money or sex or cars or power.

It is about relationships how I treat others from the heart. And the search for that ONE THING in life that everyone wants if their honest with themselves. That would be a healthy relationship with God. In awe as my superior and in love as giver of life. I know beyond a shadow of doubt that there is more living in death if he is with you. Eternity is the gift of those who believe in Him and walk with Him. Living does not end when the heart stops beating for those who choose life with God. That fact should help you decide how to act this side of the grave. What do you believe in? What season of life are you in?

Life and Liberty

The 4th of July has come and gone and many people think of the holiday as a day they get off work or a day they see the fireworks. We as Americans take what we have as people of that nation for granted. What do we have; just the greatest nation for opportunity and freedoms that has ever existed in history. If you agree with this statement you I know that there are some that do not agree but think that we are a nation of greed and evil. History tells us the heart of this nation when it began and the direction and ideals that still, thank God, exist today. The document that spells it out is the Declaration of Independence pinned July 4th 1776 by a group of men that sacrificed dearly for the words and their oaths to stand by them to the death.” We hold these truths to be self-evident: That all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” This statement from this document is the center of the American dream of liberty. The authors and signers of this document considered the rights given by God and unalienable. Unalienable means: incapable of being repudiated or transferred to another. They are inseparable as a goal of the human experience and should be cherished and protected.

These rights are under attack today as they have never been before. Incrementally they are given to the government and taken away from the people. We have ourselves to blame as we see it the next part of the wording of the Document, “ to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed; that whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends.” People somehow think the government is seperate from the people and has unlimited wealth but as you read it gets it’s powers from the consent of the people, it gets it’s wealth from the people. We have what we have asked for in government if it is to be changed it will have to begin with the people. We need to wake up and do the right thing, right thinking is important, I don’t mean right or left thinking but thinking that puts life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness before government control and reaches a balance of reasonable controls and laws to promote these ideals. We have not done our home work toward elected officials. Self-seeking individuals with slick promises have dominated the government because of our apathy. I trust the American people to do the right thing. Abe Lincoln said, ” You can fool some of the people all the time, and all the people some of the time but you can’t fool all the people all the time.” Is it time for The United States citizens to wake up? Anybody up there?

There was a man that lost his footing at night next to a cliff and fell over the side. As he was falling he reached out and grabbed a bush which stopped his decent into the darkness and he hung there. No one saw him or knew where he was, he was alone on the side of the cliff. In the darkness he cried out to God and said, “Lord please hear me, save me and I will dedicate my life to you, please Lord hear me.” He heard nothing but the wind blow. His arms were getting tired he knew he could not hold on much longer. Finally in desperation he yelled out and said, “Please can anyone hear me is anybody up there? Help please Help!” Still no answer coming. The bush was coming loose from the dirt and he knew he was going to plummet to his death. Finally he heard a voice say “let go, if you believe let go”. He answered, “ Is that you Lord help”. Again he heard “let go, if you believe let go”. He thought for a moment then said, “Is anybody else up there”. The bush finally came out of the dirt and the man fell 3 feet to a ledge that he could not see in the darkness and he survived his ordeal.

If we are going to talk about the important questions in life the biggest query is anybody up there? Is there a supreme being/creator? Does God really exist? In the amusing story the man had his faith severely tested as we all do in life but his was a life and death situation. Is it logical to believe that all you see in the world came into existence without a creator? Even with my limited intellect it does not seem possible. But men with a greater IQ than me hold that view and stake there very being to pure chance not Godly design. I believe that there is enough evidence out there for a man to know for sure, and I have proven His existence to myself. However you won’t find God in a test tube or prove he is up there with science. That is because knowing God only comes through relationship with Him. You can only come to Him on his terms. He must call you and He is calling but many they can’t or won’t hear Him. ” Let him who has an ear hear“.

Some people are put out by this and think they can come to him their selves on human terms. But God has provided a plan of salvation which involves His Son Jesus. So many despise him and don’t want relationship with Him even though he provided it with the Life of Jesus. For what ever reason they do not want to be ruled by anyone however good that being is. They won’t submit to any so called Supreme God. So people believe a lie and say to themself that no one is up there and when in trouble they look toward themselves or others for help. Nothing but the truth

I always wondered what I would do if a court official made me put my hand on a bible and swear to tell “The whole truth and nothing but the truth”. I always thought that because I saw events a certain way that maybe someone else that witness it also saw it differently than I did. And it is true maybe they (someone else) was standing in a place that gave them a different perspective about the event and was paying more attention to the what happened. For what ever reason my recollection of the facts may be different than another witness. My hope is that the truth would come out in the end. But in life the truth is only as good as the understanding of what is truth in the individual. If someone says to me that the chair in the room is solid and will hold me up when I set on it and it falls apart when I place my self inside the chair, that was untrue or a lie. But if I know the chair is made of oak and a watched a master builder put it together then I would be less sceptical of someone telling me it was solid and would hold me up. I would have more faith that the chair would hold me and confidently set down in the chair.

Truth is build on experience and observation and trust. Your belief if built on life experiences and is only as good as the information you have learned. Bad information in – bad results out. Babies learn it is true that if they cry someone will feed them or give them the attention they need. But we are not to stay there we are to grow and learn harder truths in life. Some people don’t want to grow to learn the hard things they want to truths of childhood to last forever. Understanding only comes to the one who wants to understand and will do the hard work of digging out the truth. Truth is obtainable and there are universal truths that apply to everyone the biggest is everyone will die. Everyone born of a woman has died, everybody has a ticket to ride that train. What’s Wrong with Being Right?

There is a way of looking at things that drives me crazy it’s called Relativism. “That’s true for you but not for me”, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”, “You can’t judge other cultures by the standards of your own”, “There are no absolutes in life”, these are some statements of Relativism. Relativism is sometimes (though not always) interpreted as saying that all points of view are equally valid, but in saying that they contradict themselves can evil even be defined under these terms, can good be defined? Only the personal belief matters not what the terms of the belief is. Don’t confuse me with the facts! Some relativists claim that humans can understand and evaluate beliefs and behaviors only in terms of their historical or cultural context.

Relativism is not skepticism. Skepticism superficially resembles relativism, because they both doubt absolute notions of truth. However, whereas skeptics go on to doubt all notions of truth, relativists want to replace absolute truth with a positive theory of relative truth. For the relativist, there is no more to truth and than a personal or cultural belief, so for them there is a lot of truth in the world. It is personal truth not true for all people but those who embrace the belief for themselves.

If your head is spinning right now and you are confused it not your fault. This thinking has confused many in university and it taught as true in schools around the world. It is my opinion that it is a pure selfish way of life that excuses any wrong-doing therefore allowing all to do as they see best. There is no right or wrong only belief in ones self and selfworld view of life. Some think this is the result of the freedoms we have as Americans and those in the free world. I think it is just a way of not taking responsibility for the right and wrong of what we do. Wrong choices have consequences that is one truth that will never change. Let me know what you think, Walt.
